Where and when will the hackathon take place?

The hackathon will take place at the TECHHOUSE offices at Unicorn Graz (Schubertstrasse 6a, Graz). The hackathon will start in the morning hours of October 21 and will end in after the final pitches in the evening of October 22.


How many participants will be accepted for each challenge?

The maximum number of participants for every challenge is 25 or 5 teams each.


Can I apply as an individual or a full team?

Applicants can apply as either single individuals that will be assigned to a team with respect to their academic or professional background, or as an already formed team. The maximum number of teammates is 5.


Do I have to be a member of one of the partner universities to participate?

No, applications are open to all students and young professionals.


Do I have to be part of the winning teams to be eligible for an internship, bachelor or master thesis, or entry level position with a corporate partner?

It does not matter whether you are a member of one of the winning teams. If you can showcase your abilities during the 48 hours you still can connect with our corporate partners and continue your path through a paid internships, bachelor or master thesis, or entry level positions.


What does “Travel Cost Support” mean?

Since we also want to invite participants from outside of Graz, we will support the cost of travel of participants and reimburse them for bus and train tickets, or other means of public transport.


Will there be a place to sleep?

Although the tight schedule will only allow very limited time to rest, we will provide designated areas to sleep within the location. If you want to bring a sleeping bag, you are welcome to.


Will food and drinks be provided?

Yes, we will provide food and drinks to the participants for the entire duration of the hackathon.


How high is the cash prize for each winning team?

Each winning team will receive a cash price of € 500 – the price will be split between the team members.


Do I need specific industry know how to work on the challenges?

No – of course prior experience in the industries that will be addressed will help you, however, we have designed the challenges in a way that the main expertise to make you successful will be the application domain know how rather than deep industry knowledge.


Do I need a certain academic background to apply?

No – we are open to all disciplines and backgrounds.


What happens to the results of my work?

You and your team are the owners of the intellectual property of your work and have all rights to develop your approach, idea, or solution yourself, or collaborate with one of our partners. In the context of a hackathon, your findings can also be further developed by others.
